The purpose of this book is to provide a detailed guide to the dissection of all major domestic animal species covered in veterinary professional programs: horse, ox, goat, and sheep. While veterinary students in the first year of the professional curriculum are the intended users, this guide also may have applicability to students in animal sciences or in graduate programs that offer large animal dissection as well.

The goal of this book is to equip students with one guide for large animal dissection that is adequately illustrated and provides detailed descriptions about the required dissections. Different programs will require more or less detail with respect to dissection of large animals. This dissection guide attempts to provide enough detail for all veterinary medicine programs, with the realization that some programs will choose to skim or skip parts of the guide to accommodate their own limitations on time and/or resources. However, this dissection guide is designed to be as comprehensive as needed to cover all clinically relevant large animal anatomy.
